A Spiritual Perspective on Freedom and Liberation

In light of what is happening in the world today, I felt a strong call to write this post as a humble perspective on what truly defines freedom and liberation. As a Palestinian myself, it has been traumatizing, to say the least, to watch what has been happening; activating inter-generational trauma and a suffocating genetic memory of oppression and victimization. However, I did come to realize that the events that took place triggered a collective conscious revolution , regardless of national identity, that came to question a lot of the current structures and systems in place. Many people are awakening to the truth that a lot of what we call choices are not choices at all, but rather a result of indoctrination and programming that is running through centuries across all sorts of channels, with the aim of enslaving us all under the name of security and safety, main tool being used is instilling fear. Without getting into the topic of who is doing it and what agenda does it serve, the main question here is, when and how did we as a collective allow ourselves to give up our own sovereignty and power to outside forces assuming that they know better and will be our path to safety and security? The biggest threat to any system of domination is our individual ability to connect within ( what I like to call our divine feminine), deriving our sense of power, safety, security and guidance from within, and this is what this post is about.

Esoterically, and according to the law of correspondence “As above so below, as within so without”, everything we are witnessing in our world today is a reflection of our own inner state. Something within us all, is calling us to our internal liberation. People all around the world, whether they realize it or not, are called to some form of individual transformation that plays a role in our collective liberation, awakening and expansion, for there is an order to things and when things get out of balance, earth and the collective need to purge and re-align, as everything in existence is always looking to balance and harmonize. True liberation on the outside requires a true liberation from the inside, but how do we liberate ourselves internally? Any true seeker knows that the ultimate quest is a complete liberation of our attachments, and false identifications (Maya), to reconnect with who we truly are. Reaching ultimate liberation , while certainly attainable, is not realistic for all of us now, but an awareness of it can certainly put us on a very fulfilling path towards liberation.

What if all we identify with as being our own desires and choices are not our desires at all? But a result of societal pressures that put on us the heavy burden of trying to keep up with what it labels valuable and revered? What if you’re trying to keep up with something that does not ignite your fire or your soul , just for the purpose of being labelled “successful”? What does that mean anyway? Off course, there are many aspects of yourself that are authentic and true, but many more are sadly not, keeping you stuck where you are, contributing to an overall feeling of lack of fulfillment that you do not quite understand.
Here, I would like to invite you to take a journey into your own deep oceans, stripping away layers of your inauthentic self, in an attempt to journey back to your true self. Release yourself from fake identifications that keep you enslaved with emotions of fear, shame, guilt and judgment to name a few. What parts of yourself are just conforming to what is expected of you, to be awarded a good label, that would earn you the approval of others? Are you living a life that truly represents your pure hearts desires, or are you acting habitually and in a conforming manner? Are you even aware of your own habits? Do they serve you? Are you truly a master of your own self? Or are you a slave to your own thoughts and emotions? Did you give your power away to life conditions? Are you only happy when life presents something that pleases you, but then hit rock bottom when it presents something that you fear? In what other ways do you feel internally enslaved?
This journey back to your true self is a life long journey, and may even take lifetimes, so please be easy about it. In no shape or form do I claim that I have attained it, it is the journey and the adventure we seek too not just the end result. However, a person who decides to break free and commit to a journey of true freedom will reap the benefits of joy and happiness unlike any of the short-lived means of fulfillment we are used to. Only when you take on this inward journey will you know who you truly are , and only from this place can you CHOOSE who you want to be , only from this place can you live with purpose aligning to the path of your highest truth. Only from this place can we individually and then collectively liberate ourselves, and only then will that start reflecting outwardly in our world.
